Family is the most important aspect of all lives including human beings. Humans want to live socially as they need to share and care for each other. Having a family in one's life is very important. A family teaches us a lot of things ,it is the first school in a person's life. In this lesson, we are going to refresh the basic concept of family, types of family, functions of family, and steps to draw different types of family trees.

1. What is a Family Tree? Mention its uses.
Answer: A family tree shows some important information about a family. The basic data that a family presents is the gender of each member, relationships between the members, (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents),and the age of each member. In hospitals, family tree helps the doctors and nurses to understand the genetic nature of diseases, death of any member, etc, A family tree is drawn in the form of a flow chart or branched structure.

7. Differentiate between a joint family and a nuclear family.
Answer: A nuclear family is a small family with a married couple and their children, all live in the same house. A nuclear family may have any number of children . A joint family is a big family with at least 3-4 generations under the same roof. The members may include grandparents, parents, and children. In a joint family, sometimes cousins, uncles, aunts, and other relatives live together.

8. What are the benefits of living in a family?
Answer:

1. Family is the basic need of every individual to find an identity.
2. Family allows its members to lead a meaningful and successful life.
3. It creates a sense of security, trust and bonding among its members. 
4. It ensures mutual support among children, parents, and grandparents in different stages of their lives.
